1. 대머리 치료제, 부작용은 작고 효과는 좋아

대 머리 치료제로 널리 쓰이는 성분명-finasteride(1mg)의 효과에 대한 연구가 발표되었습니다. 기존에 발표되었던 12개의 문헌, 3,927명의 자료를 체계적으로 분석하였는데 약을 2년간 꾸준히 복용하였더니 모발이 평균 30% 정도 증가하는 효과가 있었다고 합니다. 한편, 80명 중 1명에서 발기 부전이라는 부작용이 보고되었는데, 약의 복용을 중단하거나 문제를 제기할 만큼 심각하지는 않았다고 저자는 말했습니다.

2. 중년에 피운 담배, 치매 위험 높인다

흡 연이 치매에 미치는 장기적인 영향에 대한 연구는 없었습니다. 다양한 인종으로 구성된 21,123명의 중년 남성을 20~30년간 추적조사하면서 치매나 알츠하이머병이 발병한 5,367명을 분석했더니, 하루 두 갑 이상의 담배를 피운 사람에서 그 위험이 두 배 이상 컸습니다. 연구진은 뇌도 흡연의 장기적인 영향에서 벗어나 있는 것은 아니라고 말했습니다.

3. 건강과 성공적인 다이어트를 위해서는 저녁은 제시간에

아 침은 8시, 점심은 1시에 먹고 저녁은 7시에 먹을 때와 아침, 점심을 같은 시간에 먹고 저녁만 10시에 먹을 때를 비교한 결과 저녁을 10시에 먹으면 하루에 약 50kcal의 열량을 적게 소비하고 혈당, 인슐린 등 건강과 연관된 수치도 나쁘게 나타나 저녁을 늦게 먹을수록 살찔 가능성이 더 크다는 연구가 발표되었습니다. 이번 연구는 10명을 대상으로 진행된 연구라서 한계가 있지만, 건강과 다이어트를 위해서는 저녁은 제시간에 먹는 것이 좋을 것 같습니다.

4. 베이킹파우더로 만든 음료수가 운동 능력을 높인다

베 이킹파우더로 만든 음료수가 운동 능력을 높인다는 연구가 발표되었습니다. 테니스 시합 전에 음료를 마시고 중간에 음료를 한 번 더 마시면 시합이 끝난 후에도 서브, 백핸드, 포워드 기술의 정확도에 별 차이가 없지만, 단순 이온음료를 마시면 시합 후 테니스 기술의 정확도가 떨어지는 것으로 나타났습니다. 베이킹 소다수를 마셔도 선수가 느끼는 주관적 피로도나 젖산 수치에는 차이가 없었지만, 혈액의 산성화를 방지해 운동 능력을 높이는 것 같다고 연구진은 전했습니다.

5. 술에 약한 사람, 관련된 유전자 있다

술 을 마시고서 술에 대한 반응이 작은 사람은 알코올 중독의 위험이 크다고 합니다. 18세에서 29세에 이르는 형제 139쌍을 대상으로 술을 마시고 난 뒤의 느낌과 유전자의 관련성을 살펴봤더니, 술에 금방 취하는 사람에게 CYP2E1이라는 유전자의 발현이 증가해 있었다고 합니다. 저자는 이 유전자의 발현이 많아지면 술에 대한 반응이 강해져 알코올 중독의 위험이 작아진다며, 이번 연구는 통해 우리의 뇌가 어떻게 알코올을 인지하는지 더 많은 것을 알 수 있었다고 말했습니다.

6. 산후 우울증 겪는 엄마, 소아과 의사가 찾아내야 해

미 국 소아과학회의 새로운 임상 보고서를 보면 산후 1년 내 심각한 우울증을 겪는 산모는 1~6.8%에 이른다고 합니다. 문제는 산후 우울증으로 적절한 보살핌을 받지 못한 아이는 발달뿐만 아니라 정신건강에도 나쁜 영향을 받고, 가족 기능에도 문제가 생긴다는 것입니다. 저자는 병원에 방문하는 엄마에게 몇 가지 질문하는 것으로도 산후 우울증을 겪고 있는 엄마를 선별해 내고, 이와 같은 문제들을 크게 줄일 수 있는 만큼, 소아과 의사들의 관심이 필요하다고 말했습니다.

7. 생후 5개월이면 어른처럼 밤에 잠잘 수 있어

아 기도 생후 5개월이면 어른처럼 밤 10시부터 아침 6시까지 깨지 않고 잠잘 수 있다는 연구가 발표되었습니다. 75명의 아기를 1년간 관찰한 결과 이 중 절반이 생후 5개월부터 어른처럼 밤에 잠잘 수 있는 것이 확인되었습니다. 이 연구의 저자는 아기가 잠자는 패턴이 어른처럼 바뀔 가능성이 가장 큰 시기는 생후 3개월로 나타나 아기의 수면 시간을 어른과 맞추려는 노력을 일찍 시작하는 것이 좋다고 전했습니다.

8. 신생아 청력 검사로 청력 장애 빨리 발견하자

최 근 주관적 청력 선별검사보다 신생아 청력 선별검사를 하는 나라가 늘고 있지만, 이의 효과에 대한 명확한 증거는 부족했습니다. 네덜란드에서 태어난 아이 중 영구적 청력 장애로 진단된 334명의 발달 상태를 폭넓게 조사한 결과 신생아 청력 선별검사를 받은 아이가 사회적 발달과 조대 운동 발달, 삶의 질에서 더 나은 것으로 나타났습니다. 연구진은 영구적 청력 장애가 남더라도 조기에 진단해 조치하면 발달에 미치는 악영향을 줄일 수 있다고 말했습니다. 한국은 신생아 1000명 중 1.7명이 청력 장애를 갖고 태어납니다.

9. 불포화 지방산, 치주염도 줄인다

DHA 와 EPA를 포함한 불포화 지방산이 만성 염증을 줄여 심장병과 뇌졸중과 같은 질환을 예방한다는 것은 알려진 사실입니다. 1999년부터 2004년까지 미국 국민 건강 영양 조사에 참여했던 9,182명의 자료를 분석했더니 불포화 지방산을 많이 섭취한 사람은 잇몸병이나 치주염의 위험도 30% 정도 줄어든 것으로 나타났다고 합니다. 불포화 지방산은 생선, 견과류, 마가린이나 땅콩버터에 많이 들어 있습니다.

10. 불포화 지방산, 건강한 정자 만들어 낸다

하 버드 대학 연구팀에 따르면 섭취하는 지방산에 따라 정자의 건강도 달랐다고 합니다. 연구에는 91명의 남성이 참여했는데 포화 지방의 섭취가 많은 상위 1/3그룹은 섭취가 적은 하위 1/3 그룹보다 정자의 수가 41% 적었다고 합니다. 그러나 오메가3나 오메가6 등 다가불포화 지방산을 많이 섭취한 그룹은 운동성이 뛰어나고 형태가 정상인 정자가 많았다고 합니다. 연구진은 임신을 계획 중인 아빠는 건강한 음식을 섭취하도록 해야 한다고 말했습니다.

Thursday's best MLB bets

If it wasn’t enough that the Texas Rangers have to open the World Series playing by National League rules on the road, they also have to deal with the quirky AT&T park, where they headed into Game 1 winless in nine games.

None of that is phasing the Rangers.

"It's definitely quirky," Ian Kinsler told MLB.com of San Francisco’s stadium. "It's got some corners in the outfield. It's a beautiful ballpark. It's great for baseball. It's a perfect place for the World Series. They've got crazy shapes and corners and all kinds of stuff. Baseball is a game of crazy things."

Like Texas’ 8-1 record on the road in the playoffs this year, which is huge because this is the first time since 2001 that the National League has held home-field advantage.

The last time the Rangers visited AT&T Park before Game 1 was in 2009 when they dropped three close games, two by a single run and one game by two runs. Picking up close wins is what got the Giants to the World Series in the first place as they outscored their opponents by only one run while going 7-3.

The Rangers seem to be a different club right now though, especially on the road where they’re averaging more than five runs per game over their last 10.

비틀스는 “돈은 내게 사랑은 못 사줘(Money Can't Buy Me Love)”라고 노래했지만, 영화 ‘프리티 우먼(Pretty Woman)’에서 리처드 기어는 줄리아 로버츠의 사랑을 샀다. 돈을 어떻게 쓰느냐에 따라 사랑을 살 수도 있다는 말. 그렇다면 돈으로 행복을 살 수는 있을까?심리학자들은 행복에 있어서도 마찬가지라도 말한다. 어떻게 쓰느냐가 행복의 열쇠가 되기도, 불행의 씨앗이 되기도 한다는 것. 캐나다 브리티시 콜럼비아 대학교 심리학과의 엘리자베스 던 교수는 “돈은 행복의 기회도 제공하지만 거꾸로 방탕한 생활의 계기가 되기도 한다”고 말했다. 던 교수는 “대학원을 졸업하고 교수가 되자 연봉이 2만 달러로 올랐는데 많은 사람이 2만 달러를 적은 돈이라고 생각할지 몰라도 나는 졸부가 된 느낌이었다”면서 “그때부터 돈과 행복감에 대해서 연구했다”고 말했다. 그는 “큰돈을 벌기 위해서가 아니라 삶을 윤택하게 만들기 위해서 어떻게 돈을 써야할지 자료를 찾았지만 의외로 드물었다”고 덧붙였다. 그렇다고 돈과 행복이 무관하다고 말할 수는 없다. 던 교수는 “부자는 더 좋은 음식을 먹고 건강을 더 잘 챙길 수가 있으며 재미있는 일을 할 여유가 있다”면서 “그렇다고 부자가 반드시 가난한 사람보다 행복하지는 않다”고 말했다. 그는 ‘소비자 심리학지’에 게재될 논문에서 행복하게 돈을 쓰는 방법 5가지를 제안했다. ①물건보다는 경험에 투자하라=미국 코넬 대학교 연구진은 최근 물건이나 건물을 사는 것보다 여행, 강습, 사교활동 등에 돈을 쓰는 것이 행복에 훨씬 가까이 가는 길이라는 내용의 논문을 발표했다. 캘리포니아 주립대학교 리버사이드 캠퍼스 심리학과의 소냐 류보미르스키 교수는 “욕실을 개조하거나 소파를 샀을 때의 기쁨은 종종 순간적인 데 그치지만 무형적인 것이 오히려 오래 간다”고 말했다. 물건은 닳거나 오래돼서 가치가 줄어들기 쉽지만 경험은 끊임없이 추억을 재생산할 수 있기 때문. ②행복은 하나하나씩 추구하라=행복은 ‘한 건’으로 얻기 힘들다. 작은 기쁨들이 차곡차곡 쌓이는 것이 한 순간의 큰 행복보다 더 좋다. 지금껏 연구결과 삶의 행복에서는 얼마나 강하게 즐거움을 느끼는가보다는 얼마나 자주 만족감을 느끼는지가 더 중요한 것으로 드러나고 있다.   ③자신이 아니라 남을 위해 돈을 써라=학생들에게 5달러와 20달러를 주고 그날 쓰게 한 뒤 다음날 행복을 체크했더니 친구나 남을 위해 돈을 쓴 이들이 더 행복해했다. 미국 오리건 대학교에서는 한쪽에는 강제로, 한쪽에는 자발적으로 자선활동에 참가하게 하고 사람들의 뇌를 자기공명영상촬영(MRI)을 통해 분석했다. 놀랍게도 자발적으로 남을 도운 사람 뿐 아니라 강제로 자선활동에 참가한 사람들의 뇌도 행복할 때 활성화되는 ‘보상 부위’ 세포들이 바삐 움직이는 것으로 나타났다.   ④행복도 경제적으로 추구하라=뭐든지 돈으로 사겠다는 생각은 버리는 것이 좋다. 예를 들면 스포츠카 매니아라면 무조건 비싼 차를 사기보다는 우선 렌터카로 써보는 것도 좋다. 스피드를 즐기면서도 오일과 바퀴를 갈고 부품을 수리하는 수고를 안 해도 된다.   ⑤구매의 장점만 보지 말라=예를 들어 호숫가의 별장을 산다고 생각해보라. 많은 사람들이 평화롭고 고요한 분위기, 환상적인 해돋이, 낚시의 즐거움 등만 떠올리고 지갑을 연다. 그러나 모기에 물어뜯기고 수시로 침입하는 벌레와 싸워야 하는 것은 생각하지 않는 경향이 있다. 주말마다 집안 수리에 시간을 써야하고 주말을 끝내고 귀가할 때 교통체증과 싸워야 한다는 것도 생각해야 한다. 중요한 것을 살 때에는 장단점을 따져야 한다. 행복은 종종 구체적인 문제와 직결돼 있다.

World Series preview and pick: Rangers vs. Giants

The Giants and Rangers shocked the baseball world in the last round, but which dog will have its day in the Fall Classic?

SERIES ODDS: Texas Rangers (-130) vs. San Francisco Giants (+110)

OFFENSE

The Rangers scored 6.3 runs per game in the ALDS against a Yankee staff that completely shut down the Twins in the previous round.  Texas is firing on all cylinders, and ALCS MVP Josh Hamilton is leading the charge. Hamilton had four homers and seven RBIs against New York to go along with a ridiculous 1.526 OPS to match.

Ex-Ranger Mark Teixeira went hitless in 14 ALCS at-bats for New York, but more important for Texas was the performance of Elvis Andrus, whom they received when they dealt Teixeira in 2007. The 22 year-old shortstop, who’s batting .333 with seven steals this postseason, has become a real catalyst at the top of the Rangers’ lineup.

Vlad Guerrero has only three extra-base hits in 45 postseason at-bats, but he reminded us on Friday night that he is a force to be reckoned with. With one on, two outs and the game tied 1-1 in the fifth inning, Joe Girardi elected to walk Hamilton to get to Guerrero.  Guerrero smashed a two-run double to center, effectively ending New York’s season.

The Giants were a poor offensive team during the regular season and, while they haven’t exactly conjured up memories of the ’27 Yankees in the postseason, they have shown an ability to get the big hit when necessary. San Francisco’s .286 BA with two outs and runners in scoring position leads all playoff teams.

Back in August, the Marlins saved themselves about $1 million when they allowed the Giants to claim Cody Ross off waivers. Ross had the last laugh, hitting .350 with three homers against the Phillies, en route to NLCS MVP honors. He has hit safely in nine of San Francisco’s 10 playoff games, including all six games against Philadelphia.

The Giants’ lineup is improving as a unit, but the Rangers are just in a different class.

PITCHING

Admittedly, we thought the Rangers’ staff was in for in for a rude awakening in the ALCS. Those feelings only got stronger when Texas blew a late 5-0 lead in the series opener. But the Rangers responded, holding the big bad Yankees to just 15 runs over the next five games.

Cliff Lee has officially established himself as one of the great postseason pitchers of all-time. In eight career playoff starts, the free-agent-to-be is a perfect 7-0 with a 1.26 ERA. His postseason numbers this year border on the absurd. Lee is 3-0 with a 0.75 ERA, a 0.58 WHIP and an unheard of 34:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Colby Lewis and C.J. Wilson have been strong behind Lee. They will need to be at their best for the Rangers to hold up against the Giants’ impressive rotational depth. San Francisco held Philadelphia’s vaunted lineup to 3.3 runs per game in the NLCS.

Giants starters have a 2.15 ERA and a .192 BAA in the playoffs. Matt Cain has not allowed a run in 13 2-3 innings and rookie Madison Bumgarner has shown maturity beyond his years. 

But the success of the Giants’ rotation in this series may hinge on the right arm of Tim Lincecum. The man they call “The Freak” is 2-1 with a stingy 1.93 ERA in the playoffs, and has held opposing hitters to a .171 batting average. A win over Lee in the series-opener would put San Francisco in the driver’s seat. 

Both bullpens are strong, but are anchored by closers that have very little playoff experience. This is the first postseason for Brian Wilson and Neftali Feliz, another key player acquired by the Rangers in the Teixeira deal.

The bullpens may be a wash, but we have to give the nod to the Giants when it comes to starting pitching.

Edge: Giants

INTANGIBLES

Both teams come in on huge emotional highs after knocking off the two World Series favorites in the last round. Bruce Bochy has more playoff experience than Ron Washington, but was 8-16 in his postseason career prior to this year’s playoffs and was swept in his only World Series appearance in 1998.

Edge: Even

The Rangers simply have too much firepower for the Giants. Traditional wisdom is that pitching wins in the postseason, but the fact that the Giants were able to beat a team of Philadelphia’s caliber while scoring a hair over three runs per game is a small miracle – one we don’t see repeating itself. Plus, the Rangers have Cliff Lee.

San Francisco Giants at Philadelphia Phillies (-158, 7)

The Giants had their chance to finish off the Phillies at home in San Francisco with Tim Lincecum on the mound against a less-than-100-percent Roy Halladay. Now they have to go on the road to Philadelphia and win one of the final two games for a trip to the World Series.

Facing the Gaints on Saturday is Roy Oswalt, who took the loss when he gave up a ninth-inning run in an ill-fated Game 4 relief appearance. However, in his Game 2 start, Oswalt went eight innings and struck out nine while allowing just three hits and one run.

Even if Oswalt can’t go all the way in Game 6, San Francisco could have a similarly tough time against the bullpen. The three runs charged to Oswalt and Chad Durbin in Game 4 are the only runs allowed by the bullpen in 16 postseason innings. Ryan Madson struck out the side in the eighth on Thursday in Game 5 and Brad Lidge closed the door with ease in the ninth.

“We know as a group, it's not going to happen very often,” Madson said of being scored upon. “When it does, you just have to get through it and forget about it and get through the next day with all the confidence in the world. That's what we did today.”

New York Yankees at Texas Rangers (103, 9)

The Yankees are playing with their backs against the wall for a second straight game, and that win-or-go-home mentality certainly worked in Game 5 at the Bronx as New York clobbered Texas 7-2.

“There was a determination,” manager Joe Girardi told the New York Post. “We have not played extremely well in this series. I saw determination during batting practice. The mood during BP was very business-like. We knew what we had to do and the guys went out and did it.”

Their bats woke up on Wednesday, and it would be a good idea for the same to happen on Friday with Phil Hughes taking the mound instead of No. 1 starter C.C. Sabathia. Still, as bad as Hughes was in Game 2, there is reason to think he will get better. In his previous postseason start against the Twins, Hughes did not allow a single run and struck out six against just one walk in seven innings.

While the Rangers obviously want to get the job done as soon as possible, they know they have the aces of all aces (Cliff Lee) in the hole for a possible Game 7. If they are even thinking about that luxury just a little bit, it could be a factor on Friday.

“I am not thinking that far, but it’s nice to know that I have Cliff Lee if it does,” manager Ron Washington explained.

자동차 등록도 인터넷으로 가능하게 됩니다~

 

종전에는 자동차등록을 하기 위해서는 해당 구청이나 차량등록사업소에 방문해야 했습니다. 그러나 오는 12월 1일부터는 관청을 방문하지 않고도 인터넷으로 간편하게 자동차등록을 하고 다른 시·도에서도 자동차 등록이 가능하게 됩니다. 국토해양부는 이 같은 내용의 ‘자동차관리법 시행규칙 및 자동차등록규칙’ 개정안을 마련해 8일 입법예고 했습니다.

 

개정안은 지난 5월 개정된 자동차등록령 제 5조(12월1일 시행)에 따라 다음 세가지를 규정하고 있습니다.

 

첫째, 임시운행허가번호판을 전국 어디서나 반납처리가 가능

 

매년 117만건에 이르는 임시운행허가번호판 반납에 따른 불편이 해소될 전망입니다. 전국 어디서나 가까운 차량등록사업소에 방문하여 임시운행허가번호판을 반납하면 되기 때문에 시간 및 비용적인 측면이 절감되는 등 국민 편의성이 크게 증진될 전망입니다.

 

둘째, 온라인 열람·발급수수료의 감면

 

자동차등 록원부의 열람 및 발급을 인터넷으로 신청한 경우에는 발급수수료가 감면됩니다. 이는 전국자동차전산망이 구축되고 정부의 온라인 수수료 감면 방침 때문인데요 자동차등록원부 열람 및 발급 수수료는 각각 100원과 300원에서 무료로, 자동차등록증 재교부 신청은 700원에서 600원으로 변경됩니다.

셋째, 자동차등록 전국 어디서나 인터넷으로 가능

 

종전에는 신규 자동차등록과 이전이 사용본거지에서만 가능했지만 앞으로는 전국 어디서나 인터넷(www.ecar.go.kr)으로 등록·이전 업무가 가능하게 되었습니다. 단, 인터넷을 이용하지 않고 타 시·도를 직접 방문하여 등록업무를 처리하는 경우에는 인건비 등 행정소요비용을 감안하여 추가 수수료 2,000원을 부과합니다.

 

자 동차 등록이 인터넷으로 가능해짐에 따라 자동차 소유자는 시간적·경제적 부담을 덜고 업무담당자의 행정편의성도 높아질 것으로 예상하는데요 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보면 일반 국민은 물론 자동차 관리사업자, 자동차제작업체 모두에게 혜택이 주어진다고 합니다.

PITCHING

All indications are that Rangers manager Ron Washington will not use Cliff Lee on three days’ rest, meaning the Yankees won’t face him more than twice in the series. That’s a big break for New York. It also means there’s a huge burden on C.J. Wilson and Colby Lewis, neither of whom had any playoff experience before this year’s ALDS. 

Wilson, who will start Game 1, is 0-1 with a 5.65 ERA in three starts against the Yankees this season. Lewis will pitch Game 2, followed by Lee and then Tommy Hunter.

Joe Girardi has named A.J. Burnett his Game 4 starter, but we think that plan might change if the Yankees find themselves behind in the series. Burnett hasn’t won since Sept. 1 and is 1-7 in his last eight decisions.

C.C. Sabathia will take the ball in Friday’s series-opener, and Phil Hughes and Andy Pettitte will start Games 2 and 3, although their order hasn’t been determined. Yankee backers breathed a sigh of relief last week when Hughes and Pettitte won Games 2 and 3 against Minnesota, allowing a combined two runs over 14 innings.

Both teams pitched well out of the bullpen during the regular season, but Texas struggled in the first round. Rangers relievers had a 5.27 ERA and allowed opponents to bat .291 in the ALDS, both highs among all eight playoff teams. The AL West champs asked their bullpen to throw almost twice as many innings (13 2/3) as the Yankees did (7) in the ALDS. 

Texas has an edge in the rotation, although the gap has narrowed now that Hughes and Pettitte have apparently tightened things up. New York’s bullpen is more rested and has Mariano Rivera at the back end of it.

Edge: Even

OFFENSE

In case you hadn’t noticed, New York’s batting order is flat-out loaded. The Yankees made short work of Twins starting pitching in the first round, hammering Francisco Liriano, Carl Pavano and Brian Duensing for 13 runs in 15 innings.

The lineup that scored the most runs in baseball during the regular season is clicking on all cylinders. Ten different Yanks drove in runs in the ALDS, and the team hit .314 en route to its second sweep of Minnesota in two years.

The Rangers brought the thunder in their first playoff series since 1999, hitting eight home runs vs. Tampa Bay. After hitting just nine homers in 391 regular season at-bats, Ian Kinsler found his power stroke, belting three long balls including a ninth-inning shot on Tuesday that put the series away for Texas. 

The Rangers’ situational hitting was another matter. They hit .206 with runners on and .231 with runners in scoring position. 

The dynamic duo of Vladimir Guerrero and Josh Hamilton hit just .250 against the Yankees in the regular season with 4 RBIs in 52 at-bats. They’ll need to produce if the Rangers are going to pull off the upset.

We don’t like the fact that Yankee hitters haven’t faced competitive pitching since Saturday, but New York has the deepest lineup in the American League, plain and simple. It’s not like Texas can pull a batter like Lance Berkman off its bench for a pinch hit in the ninth inning.

Edge: Yankees

INTANGIBLES

The aura of the Yankees has intimidated its share of unproven playoff teams. Experience favors the Yankees in spades, but we don’t see these Rangers getting rattled – especially not Cliff Lee, who welcomes the opportunity to pitch against New York.

Slight Edge: Yankees

We like the Yankees to take care of the Rangers in six games, although we’d advise them to take care of business and avoid a potential Game 7 meeting with Lee.

Whilst mathematics tells us that there are more than 2 Trillion ways of feeding a lace through the six pairs of eyelets on an average shoe, this section presents a (somewhat more realistic) typical cross-section of traditional and alternative lacing methods that I've either found or created or that have been sent to me by web site visitors. The selection is limited to those methods that are widely used, have a particular feature or benefit, or that I just like the look of. Stay tuned - the list is still growing!

33 Different Ways To Lace Shoes
These diagrams are all drawn as though looking from the front of the shoe, such that the lower part of the lacing (near the toes) is at the bottom of the diagram, and are colour-coded to make it easier to follow where the lace runs. Generally, the start of the lacing is Grey, while the lace end that starts on the left side is Blue and the end that starts on the right side is Yellow. For colour-blind visitors, Blue=Dark=Left, Yellow=Light=Right.
